Getting started as a student

Are you new to eJournal? This guide helps you familiarize with your first eJournal assignment and teaches you about the most important features our tool offers. Exciting things ahead!


Why eJournal?

eJournal is designed for progressive assignments, enabling teachers to give intermediate feedback on activities in your assignnment. This means that you get feedback on the moment it matters, focused on your development over time. Furthermore, you can gain an easy overview of what you have done so far, and which subtasks have yet to be completed.


Step 1: Start with your first eJournal assignment

For each eJournal assignment you will work on a journal. This is a portfolio where you will collect all material related to the assignment over time. First things first, let's take a look at the journal for your first assignment.

Step 2: Create your first entry

You can add content to your journal through an entry. Entries are structured according to templates created by your teacher. Try creating the first entry in your journal.

Step 3: Check upcoming intermediate deadlines

Besides existing entries that you added yourself, the timeline in your journal may also contain intermediate deadlines or goals set by your teacher. These are indicated by or . If your teacher has configured intermediate deadlines, you can click on them to see when they are due and read their description.

By default, you will receive email reminders about all upcoming deadlines that you have yet to complete.

Step 4: Preview the assessment model

The assessment model describes how your journal will be evaluated. It's good to be aware of this in advance, so let's take a look at it now.

Step 5: Submit your journal for final assessment (optional)

Your teacher may have configured your journal to require final submission for assessment. This means that they will start the assessment only after you indicate that your journal is completed.
